Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if we are a good fit?
Great question! As all relationships in life, the therapeutic one is incredibly important. To find out if we are a good match, I encourage new clients to schedule a 15 minute free phone consultation with me. During that time I will provide you with a little bit about myself, an overview of my philosophy as a therapist and my approach with clients, and you are welcome to ask me any questions to help you determine if we are a good fit. I might also ask you what brings you to therapy, how I can support, and we can discuss scheduling availability, rates, insurance and more.

Do you take insurance?
I do! I currently accept clients with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum and Aetna. If you have neither of those insurances but are still interested in working together, don’t fret! I do have a private pay rate of $150 per 50 minute individual therapy session, and $175 per 50 minute couples therapy session. If you choose this route and have alternate insurance, together we can explore if your insurance provides OON benefits for reimbursement.

What is the first therapy session like?
The first therapy session, also referred to as our “intake” will entail getting to know one another. I will start off giving you some helpful information about policy practices, reviewing any paperwork questions you may have, and discussing important details such as your safety, privacy, and therapeutic goals that brought you to seeking therapy. I will also share with you my therapeutic approach, and get to know you on a more personal level. Much like any future therapy sessions, I approach these sessions with a relaxed, conversational style to make my clients feel at ease. Our intake will focus on one of the most important aspects of therapy: the therapeutic relationship! I find that building rapport, comfort and trust with my clients, is essential to their success and my own, as their therapist.

How do I know if therapy is working?
I’m glad you asked! Therapy, similar to some other forms of medical treatment, has no guaranteed outcomes nor specific timeline in which you will see progress. Do not be discouraged! Therapy much like life can often resemble a dance, where we take one step forward and another back. However, the more invested one is in their treatment, the more likely one is to notice improvement in their symptoms, or the challenges and goals that brought them to seeking therapy in the first place. As your therapist, I strive to provide clients with opportunities to reflect on their growth, using their initial treatment goals to do so.
